Mystery of three strangers in Chinedu’s deportation saga!!

This is becoming a circus. First, we the taxpayers will be billed per hour for the plane until it's released! Second, it now appears that Chinedu's deportation wasn't procedural. And third, 'grey areas' and three mysterious passengers.

My question is, how difficult is it exactly to interpret Kenyan law on deportation procedures? And do we have legal minds in government competent enough to do this? This might just turn out to be one embarrassing saga for this government.

US firm ranks Kenya as 'failed state' despite peaceful poll

Kenya is ranked among the world's 20 most unstable countries in an annual "failed-state index" published on Monday by a Washington think tank and an online international affairs journal.
"I support the rankings since Kenya is still divided in tribal lines,corruption is rampant,insecurity allover and the most crucial part is land reform necessary to wipe out historical injustices are not yet been implemented."

Successful efforts to prevent a repeat of the post-election violence of five years ago did not impress the analysts at the Fund for Peace and Foreign Policy magazine.

"The elections, thankfully, were relatively peaceful," acknowledges the brief entry on Kenya, which is listed in 17th place on the index -- one spot better than in 2012.

"But, as the International Crisis Group writes," the Kenya commentary continues, "'the conflict drivers that triggered the 2007 bloodshed, including a culture of impunity, land grievances, corruption, ethnic tensions, weak institutions and regional and socio-economic inequality, have yet to be addressed adequately.'"

The index annually receives a significant amount of global media attention.

Critics say its rankings are arbitrary, in that comparative degrees of instability cannot be measured scientifically.

The index's sponsors point to their use of specialised software and "sophisticated search parameters and algorithms" that produce numerical scores for social, economic and political indicators for 178 countries.

The index compilers may also be vulnerable to charges of prejudice since black African countries -- Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan and Chad -- account for the five worst cases of state failure.

Despite military and political gains made against insurgents, "Somalia has the dubious honour of being the world’s No 1 failed state for the sixth straight year," says an introduction to the index.

Kenya is ranked one spot above Nigeria and just below Niger.

Uganda is placed in the 22nd position, while Tanzania is listed 65th, which is said to make it slightly more stable than both Israel and China.

Finland, Sweden and Norway are deemed the world's three most stable states.

That suggests the index may have poor predictive capacities, since Sweden was shaken last month by widespread rioting.

First time in History Tanzania will host the First African Ladies’ summit, to be attended by US First Lady Michele Obama.

The summit, scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam from July 2 to 3, is being applauded by a cross-section of Tanzanian women who see it as special opportunity to share progressive ideas and an indication of Tanzania’s acceptability at the international level.

According to a statement released by the Tanzania Information Services (Maelezo), African First Ladies from across the continent will gather at the George W Bush Institute’s African First Ladies Summit.

The summit, which is set to bring together at least eight wives of African Heads of State, whose theme is: Investing in Women, Strengthening Africa.

It has been established that among other things, the Summit will focus on the important role First Ladies play in promoting women’s education, health and economic empowerment.

“With the support from ExxonMobil, the Summit will bring together African First Ladies, government officials, private organisations, NGOs and academics to discuss best practices, particularly within public-private partnerships that can reap sustainable, replicable results, benefit women and strengthen society,” reads part of the statement.

The former US president, Mr George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, are expected to deliver keynote speeches at the Summit.

From outside the continent, the summit will be attended by the current US First Lady, Mrs Michelle Obama, former wife of the British Prime Minister Mrs Cherie Blair and the UN Goodwill Ambassador for Cancer Control, Ms Nancy G Brinker.
