l have traveled to Kisumu and Kakamega for the longest period and it
kills me to know lam ALWAYS traveling in what we do not own. i have spent nights in hotels and the products we consume come from the very people who abuse us.
Good people including the bloggers of similar thought lets stop complaining and
start working towards making a difference. lets start talking how to invest in Nyanza and Western as a whole.we
need serious professionals to move our region.
Investing in your birthplace is fine my folks..Unfortunately, Luhya leave several heactres of land in virgin and idol merely to be employed as a cooks and night gurds in towns, so he can be leaving for kakamega in Decmember with bicycle top of the bus to go Kakamega and boost loudly about how he knows so well about Kibera and kawangware, "mbe mcheri sana, malwa kosi ndamanya ndi ichirishi mu vaindi".
Luos generally do not embrace business..They believe in white collar jobs,,working in big offices while sitting on swinging chairs in somewhere such as fifth, sixth, seventeenth floor building in Nairobi, telling his people "Macha ee Ofisa. "An ema tinde an driver mar Engineer Rege"...and those who are hardworking enough to invest in Luos land meet very mixed reaction from people who feel like killing them through sorcery because of the "Oloyowa factor", "Tinde okualo kanye factor". In short, Luos and Luhyas are an enemy unto themselves.
On the other hand, they believe politics is everything and the only thing that can bring them development. its so unfortunate. A very wealthy Luo would not even allow a suffering Luo near them. Luhya see fellow in a perspective of a thief or life destroyers. They also don’t like employing or promoting their own people around them. And some of us are still waiting for Raila to be President so that we be employed!!. It is not a bad idea. l know very well that politics plays a role in bring resources home. But wait a minute. These Kikuyu houses we have rented in Nairobi were built even before Kibaki became the president. Its because Kikuyus are hardworking and are not even ashamed to sell women red underwear or milk by the roadside,Something a Luo or Luhya will consider too shameful to do.
The only problem with Kikuyus is that in everything they do, they also supplement it with stealing. They are great thieves especially by force. But one will also ask that if you think l am rich because l am stealing, then why don’t u also steal so that you can make achievements like me?.
we seriously need to revive Agriculture and let Agribusiness be given priority in the new dispensation then the rest of the factors of production will follow.
While a large number of Luos prefer employment than business, they forget that your employer is also a business man/woman. Learn from your employers and you will be a great investor.
Our flamboyance & human resource has been exploited by others and made them economic masters over us, arguably a factor that even makes our politicians start election races from the pit lane in terms of financial muscle!!
Especially insurance, those bordering kalenjin must take comprehensive cover against stock theft. How many cars do young luos have? Lets take policies Only from Our insurance firms we own...look at Amaco!.
Change starts with a few and should catch on. I am in the game; history has taught us that it takes just a few to make a difference; a critical lesson that Luhya and Luo's doesn't seem to have have learnt!!. True change of mindset will do wonders. The old lost it and its now the duty of the youth not to follow the destructive path, but a constructive one that knows only development.
why don't we build back agribusiness in all counties in Western Kenya, identify opportunities for investments by individuals , reduce skepticism and mistrusts among ourselves, look at the long term goal of being self sufficient. l know for a fact that if we do all this we gain wealth and in that way we can strongly bargain for all the we need from this country.
